"Highly decorative window treatments are like a bad bridesmaid's dress–fine for an event, but not something to live with."

I remember Bobby's words every time I see pictures of a house that is swagged and jaboted to the hilt.
I love beautiful, relatively simple curtains with a French pleat. When the fabric is gorgeous, it speaks for itself.

Valances / Top Treatments

This valance is actually attached to a small cornice, just another way to install a window treatment.  Hardware Used: Antique Drapery Hardware
Just can't go wrong with this valance, always a winner, especially when using a toile fabric.
Add interest to a Cornice by attaching Antique Drapery Holdbacks then add swags and jabots.  The secret to good construction: they're all separate pieces.
These Valances are enhanced with beautiful Orion Hardware, each gathered horn is attached to the rod with three rings.
These Treatments are 24" in depth: helps keep the room in proper scale.  If the ceiling was 8 to 10 feet, I would have shortened the valances.

2008 Bellarmine Showhouse: A Twist on London Shades

2008 Bellarmine Showhouse

The Windows were very long and narrow, so I created this London Shade to fit into the window and brought it down to cover a large window area, showcasing the beautiful hydrangeas in the Thibaut Fabric.

A Twist on the London Shade: notice an extra inverted boxpleat was added, banding at the bottom and covered buttons in the contrasting green fabric.
